Message to El Paso County Voters

I believe our government exists to serve its people.

I am running for El Paso County Assessor as a servant leader dedicated to improving how our office serves our community.  My full platform is on this site, but I really have very simple goals.

My single highest priority is to make property values easy to understand.  We will increase data accessibility with the fewest barriers.  Additionally, we will work to ensure all eligible Seniors and 100% Disabled Veterans receive the property tax exemptions they deserve.

My professional background and community service history have prepared me both for the technical aspects of the job, as well as the people side of working with community leaders through understanding and fairness.  I have an Accounting degree from CU Boulder, have made Small Business Administration-backed loans for over 30 years and served as a member of the El Paso County Planning Commission for over 6 years.  I have volunteered in our community for over 25 years in the areas of financial literacy and small business financing.

Colorado has always been my home, and El Paso County has been home to our family since 2000. I am running because I want to put my experience to work for the community we love.

I am the right choice.

I ask for your vote and support.

What does the County Assessor Do?

The County Assessor is responsible for discovering, listing, classifying, and valuing all property in the county in accordance with state law. The office determines the actual and taxable value of residential, commercial, agricultural, and other property.

The elected Assessor manages the professional staff, systems, and processes that carry out this technical work; coordinates with the Clerk and Recorder, Treasurer, and other government offices; and engages with the public to provide accurate information and responsive service. At its core, it is a leadership role grounded in public service.
